Blogging on Food
Hello guys, as you can see in my profile, "I LOVE TO EAT!!!," it is one of my hobbies actually aside from having 3 meals a homosapien eats regularly. During the sembreak, I have been surfing food blogs and one of the famous ones is Anton’s Our Awesome Planet http://anton.blogs.com/ . There are a lot of good places to eat featured in this blog; 95% of Anton’s reviews are agreeable according to my tastebuds. I’ve tried two restaurants during the break: one is CYMA (greek restaurant; try the flaming mango — miss all except this!) in Shangri-La Mall and IN YO CUISINE, along Abada street in Katipunan. Food is sooooo good in these places — now I plan to write more blogs on food next time. I cannot wait to share about food/kanin in Ilocos Norte where I come from (wait ’till I write about empanada stands, where they are located, turo-turo in Batac to Laoag). To my fellow Ilocanos, if you know of any, please send comments or emails so I can check them out on X’mas break and summertime.
Now about Anton’s… kwento ko lang. I just gave a comment about IN YO CUISINE; considering how busy he is I didn’t expect he would email me personally. I just gave a short comment:
I tried eating in this resto after i read Anton’s blog last month. I am a student in UP and when my friend and I got there, I forgot about the prices. Mahal
siya for students, or even officeworkers na nagtitipid.. but I suggest, just to enjoy the food.. Order honey glazed salmon and raspberry vinaigrette salad paghatian nyo 2 to 3 people — around 800 plus siya. Sulit ang food dahil kahit may kahati soooobrang sarap parin, and you can’t wait coming back. I suggest go there with your mom or dad, or a bf willing to spend for you
, that is if you are unemployed or a full-time student.
There is free bread with cream cheese as starter– delicious too
Then he replies to my personal email for a few seconds:
I’m glad that you were willing to spend some of your hard earned
allowance for lunch/ dinner and did not regret it. Yes, better to
bring your date here and let him pay for it =) but you’ll be a bit
conscious eating your heart out. =)
I’ve been wanting to go there again but time does not permit me
to.
Lucky you to be studying near that area. Maybe you’d be able to
suggest places to eat that would be an ideal for students like you.
I’ve been to Chocolate Kisses, Latasia. Any more ideas?
Thanks!
Anton
I replied to him saying:
hello anton wow nice to hear from you
, I didn’t expect for an
immmedaite reply, moreso an "actual reply." Well, I think you’ve gone
to the high class resto (siya na ang highest class for the masa in
u.p.) that is chocolate kiss. But I also want to suggest food that,
though it has masang approach — the food there is good and extremely
cheap.
for quick lunch
BEACHHOUSE - right beside the UP MAIN LIBRARY — try the barbecue
and grilled food like bangus, chiken etc.; banana que with gulaman, and
other lunchmeals. they are absolutely in student prices.
anytime, highend, but lower prices than inyo cuisine:
GAYUMA
– along the street where inyo is located. Try their different types
of chicken, and the eggplant with bread (I forgot the name), the cakes
(2 kinds - the one with fruits on top and the sex cake) — yummy!!!!;
check the ambiance too and the restroom — its like a good witch’s
house, and there is a fortune teller (with a particular schedule), and
music (guitarist); my favourite too is the cocoa chocolate - though I
am allergic to cocoa
now for the best tasting isaw — (try to drop by before you eat at gayuma) around in the afternoon
1. UP’s ISAW — beside the UP clinic — it is also infront of a dorm (i forgot the name of the dorm)
2. UP’s ISAW — right infront kalayaan dorm
The
difference between the two; no. 1 — they make their own vinegar (chili
and light red in color); they also soak the organs for many hours with
a sauce that they personally make — so when you get there all the
organs are red in color. no 2 — they have the original taste of the
internal organs without any sauce. My tastebuds though recommend no. 1
Alright,
I will write to you again when I get to know some more. hey I am glad
you respond to emails… I ‘ve been wanting to travel the Philippines
coupled with food trips… If you have more, pls do share. thanks alot
anton
I didn’t know exhanging info’s on food would be fun and interesting to do. Maybe you can share more info on food that you think are worth having a review in my blog, which I am planning to do in the future. I am planning to make though during school breaks… to my fellow food trippers, give me a beep and off we’ll go…. yum yum
